The habitual cat
Cats are creatures of habit, they are also curious. Put a box down in a room with a cat and the cat will walk round it suspiciously then probably end up climbing into the box wanting to know all there is to know about this new object in their lives. This is different from trying to get a cat in a box when they suddenly develop 10 feet long legs that splay out at 90 degrees, like trying to put an umbrella handle first into a tube. (It just occurred to me to turn the cat upside down first:)
We have two cats, one is laid back, unfazed by pretty much everything, the other completely mental, far too aware and hyped up but both these felines are creatures of habit. Because of dietary constraints we have to feed them separately. Cat A feeds in the kitchen, cat B feeds halfway up the stairs where she can see what's going on (cat B is the nervous one).
Sometimes when I can watch they don't steal each others food they both eat in the kitchen. Cat A makes a habit of trying to steel Cat B's food if she leaves any but... Cat A habitually walks to the foot of the stairs to see if B has finished even when she feeds next to him in the kitchen!!
Habit can be hard to break for a cat but people live most of the time by habit too, especially with business processes, often making up work arounds to get the result they need and these habits can create resistance when introducing new processes which is why it is important to involve all key personal in change management as one sided change is always harder to deal with than when change is shared.
